New doctoral candidate – Kunal Parikh

The Center would like to welcome new doctoral candidate Kunal Parikh, and his collaborator Professor Youseph Yazdi to the CNM family. Kunal will be working on novel vaccination strategies for his PhD thesis in BME. He will be co-mentored by Dr. Yazdi, Director of the Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design.

Thesis defense – Craig Schneider

CNM member Craig Schneider presented his thesis for the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. His thesis was titled: “Mucus-penetrating nanoparticles for small cell lung cancer therapy.” Craig will be joining former CNM member Dr. Graeme Woodworth, Assistant Professor in Neurosurgery at the University of Maryland, and will be attending medical school starting in the fall of 2014. Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Great Strides Walk

Members of the CNM, led by Elizabeth Nance, participated in the Great Strides Walk to raise awareness and money for Cystic Fibrosis, the number one genetic killer in the United States. The CNM team raised almost $8000 and had 20 CNM members participate in the walk and in fundraising efforts. Awesome job!
